Supertmarket Sarah is a website that aims to bring a personal, tactile and original experience to shopping online. Built on the simple idea of a wall full of “clickable” items, hand picked or commissioned by Sarah.
The homepage is an image of Sarah’s living room wall where she displays all the unusual items she sources and creates. Or she invites a designer to curate a wall, giving them full creative license and the results are always really exciting. The wall frequently changes as Sarah regularly refreshes items so people can be inspired on every visit to her site.
In today’s world of chain shops and homogenous brands, Supermarket Sarah puts a fun spin on consumer culture. The site has a range of designs from vintage fashion to customized objects. There is a selection of work by up and coming designers as well as some unexpected curios. Everything is a ‘one of a kind’ piece with a story about its discovery provided by Sarah.
Klaus Nomi, one of the most incredible personalities of the NYC 80's. Nomi was known for his bizarrely theatrical live performances, heavy make-up, unusual costumes, and a highly stylized signature hairdo which flaunted a receding hairline.
He notably performed in solo and with David Bowie in the New York Underground. Nomi was one of the first celebrities to contract AIDS.
